According to the latest steel import monitoring and analysis (SIMA) data from the US Department of Commerce, US steel imports in October this year were 2,173,300 tons, in September it was 2,938,300 tons, and in October last year it was 1,372,300 tons. It was down 26% from the previous month and increased by 58.4% year-on-year.
In terms of steel types, the import of flat products in October was 1.0225 million tons, a decrease of 18.7% from the previous month; the import of long products was 424,083 tons, a decrease of 7.1% from the previous month; the import of pipe materials was 286,426 tons, a decrease of 37.6% from the previous month; and the import of semi-finished products was 354,212 tons, a decrease of 42.6% from the previous month.
The main sources of imports include: Canada (475,207 tons), Mexico (406034 tons), South Korea (186214 tons), Brazil (142610 tons), Turkey (113559 tons).
