The thickness of the same batch of 304 stainless steel strips is inconsistent because of these reasons

1. The influence of temperature change:
Once the temperature of metallurgical spare parts changes, it will affect the production conditions of steel rolling equipment, thereby driving the thickness of the stainless steel strip to change. Its essence is that the temperature difference causes the thickness to fluctuate. The temperature fluctuation mainly causes the deformation resistance and friction factor of stainless steel, thereby causing the thickness of the stainless steel strip to change.

2. The influence of tension change:
Tension will affect the stress state and can change the metal deformation resistance of the stainless steel strip, further causing the thickness of the stainless steel strip to change. In addition to affecting the thickness of the head and tail of the stainless steel strip, the change in tension will also affect the thickness of other parts of the stainless steel strip.
Once the tension is too large, it will not only affect the thickness of the stainless steel strip but also the width of the stainless steel strip. Therefore, during the hot rolling process, manufacturers often use loopers to stabilize the tension; similarly, cold rolling is required during the cold rolling process, because the stainless steel strip will be hardened during processing, which will increase the deformation resistance.
If the rolling force is changed by adjusting the roll gap of the steel rolling equipment, it is difficult to obtain a suitable reduction rate. Therefore, a relatively large inter-frame tension is required for rolling. In cold rolling production, large tension is necessary.
By reducing the rolling force, the energy consumption of rolling can be reduced, thereby avoiding the deviation of the stainless steel strip and controlling the thickness and deformation of the stainless steel strip.

3. The influence of speed change:
The so-called speed mainly refers to the change of rolling pressure and reduction amount by adjusting the friction factor, deformation resistance, and bearing oil film thickness, thereby changing the thickness of the stainless steel strip.

4. The influence of roll gap change:
When the stainless steel strip is rolled, the rolls and bearings of the rolling mill components are affected by thermal expansion, roll gap wear, and roll eccentricity, which will cause the roll gap of the steel rolling equipment to produce high-frequency periodic thickness fluctuations during high-speed rolling, directly affecting the thickness of the stainless steel strip.

In addition to the above reasons, the fluctuation of the incoming material thickness and mechanical properties also causes inconsistent steel strip thickness through changes in rolling pressure. In addition, the calculation deviation of rolling equipment settings, the accuracy of measuring instruments, and the design of control system structure and control parameters will also affect the thickness accuracy of stainless steel strips.
