The difference between 304, 316L, and duplex stainless steel pipe fittings

Duplex stainless steel pipe fittings have the performance characteristics of both 304 and austenitic stainless steel pipe fittings. This article compares duplex stainless steel pipe fittings with stainless steel pipe fittings made of 304 and 316L as the main materials, and draws the following differences:

A. Duplex stainless steel pipe fittings have excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking, especially in chloride ion environments. Even duplex stainless steel pipes with alloy content have higher resistance to stress corrosion cracking than austenitic stainless steel pipes. Stress corrosion is a prominent problem that ordinary austenitic stainless steel pipes are difficult to solve;

B. The corrosion resistance of duplex stainless steel pipe fittings, which are the most commonly used in many media, is better than that of ordinary 316L austenitic stainless steel pipes, and super duplex stainless steel pipes have extremely high corrosion resistance. In some media, such as acetic acid and formic acid, they can even replace high-alloy austenitic stainless steel pipes and even corrosion-resistant alloys;

C. It has good resistance to local corrosion. Compared with austenitic stainless steel pipes with equivalent alloy content, due to the high strength and good corrosion resistance of duplex stainless steel pipes, its wear corrosion and corrosion fatigue resistance are better than 304 stainless steel pipe fittings.
