Common Welded Steel Pipes

As is known to all, there are many kinds of different welded steel pipes in the world. The welded steel pipes can be divided into many types according to its different material properties, technology of manufacturing and practical uses. In our daily life, the most commonly used welded steel pipes are the ordinary pipes, the ordinary carbon steel wire casing, the pile with spiral welded steel pipes, the straight seam welded steel pipes, the helical seam submerged arc welded steel pipes and the high frequency welded steel pipes.

The ordinary pipes, which are generally call the black pipes, are usually used to transport some low pressure fluid such as the water, the coal gas, the air, the oil and the heating steam. The ordinary pipes can be divided into two types, the ordinary steel pipes and the thickening steel pipes, according to the thickness of the ordinary pipes. And according to the different types of the pipes’ ends, the ordinary pipes can be divided into two types, the ones without steel pipes and the ones with steel pipes.

The ordinary carbon steel wire casings are usually used to protect the electric wires. They have been widely used in the industrial and civil construction and the installation of machinery and equipment and other electric installation works.

Using the tube blanks as the hot-rolled steel coils, the pile with spiral welded steel pipes can be formed at room temperature by using double-sided submerged arc welding technology or the high frequency welding technology. Now these kind of steel pipes are widely used as the foundation piles in the field of the civil engineering structure, the piers, the bridges and other infrastructures alike.

The welding lines of the straight seam welded steel pipes are parallel to the steel pipes. And there are many types of this welded steel pipes such as the metric welded steel pipes, the welded thin-walled pipes, the transformer cooling tubing and so on.

The spiral submerged arc welded pipes and the spiral seam high frequency welded steel pipes are often used to transport the pressurized fluid. They both use the hot-rolled steel strip coils as the tube blank, and they are both shaped at room temperature. The spiral submerged arc welded steel pipes are produced by using the double-sided automatic submerged welding method or the one-side welding method, and usually have a good welding performance. The spiral seam high frequency welded steel pipes are processed by using the high frequency welding method, and usually have a good plasticity and are easily to be welded and processed. These two welded steel pipes are good at bearing pressure, and they are safe to use, and they both have a large diameter in the pipes. For these reasons, the spiral submerged arc welded steel pipes and the spiral seam high frequency welded steel pipes can both be used to transport the oil and natural gas as well as some low pressure fluid such as the water, the coal gas, the air and the heating steam.
